I think every bid resets the timer, this prevents sinping.

How to win at bidding?
During my practice auction I noticed that the timer kept going to zero and then resetting to 1 minute, why?? How can you win if it always keeps going back to 1 minute?

They call it an overtime period. When the clock gets below 30 seconds or so, if someone places a bid the clock will add a full minute to prevent a last second snipe like you see on ebay.
